Soliciting Provocative Clothing Advice
Nov. 2nd, 2006 01:28 amI need some pointers for flaunting myself, as part of some role-modeling I want to do. That is, I'm going to be the change I want to see in the world [well, at Rocky], by acting as though I'm encouraged to strut my sexuality, and encouraging other men to do so, and looking for preshows don't follow a sexist model, and encouraging others to do so.
Finding sexuality-flaunting clothing for men isn't easy. Between the Garment District and Hubba-Hubba, I added some more sexual clothing to my repertoire (and got some appreciative comments and some snarky comments), but I need more. I don't have a style, so I'm willing to experiment, but my budget is limited. Does anyone have suggestions on what to wear and where to get it?
Given the excellent response to my last post, I'm going to keep the topic alive-- though, hopefully in less dramatic ways. I'll skip posting about specifics concerns that Elaina and I discussed, but if you want to hear them or talk about the issue further with me, get in touch.

Black skirt, no top. Nipple tape if you want.

Date: 2006-11-02 04:23 am (UTC)Don't forget that a great way for men to look sexy is to look *sharp*. Certainly, going for the goth/fetish look does loudly declare the intent to be sexy. But a well fitting pinstripe suit or tuxedo nicely whispers the same idea. Depending on the intended effect and/or circumstance, the subtlely can come across as sexier than the bold statement. (Though to qualify yet again, admittedly the suit/tuxedo look isn't exactly bargain basement.)
Anyway, those are just the thoughts off the top of my head. BTW, I love that you're doing this.

Date: 2006-11-02 05:07 am (UTC)I'm planning on doing trixie in December, and stripping from pinstripes to fetish would be perfect.

Date: 2006-11-02 06:15 am (UTC)OMG! That would rock! You gotta let me know what weekend you're doing that, so I can be there. (Though crap! I think I might already be booked most weekends in December. Pout.)
When you start out in the pinstripes you should give it the full treatment, with hat, white gloves and scarf, cane/umbrella, etc.

Date: 2006-11-02 02:35 pm (UTC)I don't have any suggestions on what to wear to be sexy because I think it's a very personal choice. Anything can be sexy if you want it to be. Find a look that makes you feel sexy, and it will be.
What I am more interested in is Preshow ideas. What type of thing do you have in mind?

Date: 2006-11-02 05:36 pm (UTC)Definitely the eyeliner, and the other place I might look for inspiration is rock stars. That's one place in our culture where the men are thought of as sex symbols, at least more than in other places.

Date: 2006-11-03 05:42 am (UTC)Most preshow ideas are so unique that it wasn't until I saw so many together this Halloween that I was able to connect the dots. If we have a preshow with several similar characters (like crazy bitch, doncha dancers, or playmate), why not have one of those be gender-swapped? If we need a sexy character, why not look for a male, and if we need a authoritative character (fuck, sweet dreams), why not female?
I have no intention of becoming a critic of other people's pitches, but I think people will agree that in a lot of cases, mixing things up will make the preshows even better.
