I need some pointers for flaunting myself, as part of some role-modeling I want to do. That is, I'm going to be the change I want to see in the world [well, at Rocky], by acting as though I'm encouraged to strut my sexuality, and encouraging other men to do so, and looking for preshows don't follow a sexist model, and encouraging others to do so.

Finding sexuality-flaunting clothing for men isn't easy. Between the Garment District and Hubba-Hubba, I added some more sexual clothing to my repertoire (and got some appreciative comments and some snarky comments), but I need more. I don't have a style, so I'm willing to experiment, but my budget is limited. Does anyone have suggestions on what to wear and where to get it?

Given the excellent response to my last post, I'm going to keep the topic alive-- though, hopefully in less dramatic ways. I'll skip posting about specifics concerns that Elaina and I discussed, but if you want to hear them or talk about the issue further with me, get in touch.

Cute outfits for guys:

Black shorts, striped tights, fishnet shirt.

Black skirt, no top. Nipple tape if you want.

I agree (I think)... part of the reason girls are portrayed sexier is it's a fair bit harder for guys to be shown as sexy. Put me in my underwear, and it ends up being for laughs, partially because I don't even know *how* to be sexy.

Let me know what you come up with (and if it's inexpensive enough, for me to share the experience!) and good luck!

Exactly what I was looking for. Striped tights like this (http://www.sock-dreams.com/_shop/pages/socks_detail_ProductID_190.php)? (I know I saw something like that the other day).

I'm not sure I'm ready for skirts and no-tops, but I'll keep that one in mind too.

Yes.

Although I think black and blue and black and purple are the best color combinations.

If society viewed men as sexier, there'd be more clothes aimed at making men sexy and men would receive more training from thier parents on how to be sexy.

I'm not sure tights would be the right look for you. (Though obviously everything is a matter of personal opinion and preference.) I definitely agree about the mesh shirt, though if you can find one that's got some texture to it (not just the same-old-same-old mesh shirt) that's better. On you, I think just a touch of eyeliner would look great. But go for powder, not liquid or pencil, as it's got a softer effect. Hmmm, and maybe play with some gel and/or hairspray to see what you can get your hair to do. (Though I'm not sure how that will work with your haircut.)

Don't forget that a great way for men to look sexy is to look *sharp*. Certainly, going for the goth/fetish look does loudly declare the intent to be sexy. But a well fitting pinstripe suit or tuxedo nicely whispers the same idea. Depending on the intended effect and/or circumstance, the subtlely can come across as sexier than the bold statement. (Though to qualify yet again, admittedly the suit/tuxedo look isn't exactly bargain basement.)

Anyway, those are just the thoughts off the top of my head. BTW, I love that you're doing this.

Very useful. [livejournal.com profile] catullus_5 also suggested eyeliner, which I had never thought of before, but I'll have to try it. I'm not attached to my haircut (it's just hanging by so many threads), so I might experiment with other parts first and then see what would go well, or just go short again to look a bit sharper.

I'm planning on doing trixie in December, and stripping from pinstripes to fetish would be perfect.

OMG! That would rock! You gotta let me know what weekend you're doing that, so I can be there. (Though crap! I think I might already be booked most weekends in December. Pout.)

When you start out in the pinstripes you should give it the full treatment, with hat, white gloves and scarf, cane/umbrella, etc.

I like your Trixie idea.

I don't have any suggestions on what to wear to be sexy because I think it's a very personal choice. Anything can be sexy if you want it to be. Find a look that makes you feel sexy, and it will be.

What I am more interested in is Preshow ideas. What type of thing do you have in mind?

Oh, excellent! I've been saying there needs to be more male trixies. Let me know if I can help :)

Maybe some tight "dancer pants" that show off your butt? I'm talking about the kind worn by guys like Gene Kelly and that era. They were high-waisted enough to show off the whole curve of a guy's rear end. Ohhhhh I'm getting hot just thinking about it.

Definitely the eyeliner, and the other place I might look for inspiration is rock stars. That's one place in our culture where the men are thought of as sex symbols, at least more than in other places.

Just to add something I haven't seen yet: don't forget about accessories, to draw attention here or there. Chokers/collars, belts to accentuate narrow hips, those neat leather lace-up cuffs, or a hat (mmm, hat.) can help tie a collection of clothing into a nice outfit. Also, since your objective is to flaunt a guy's body, I'd advise against a skirt, which tends to shift the viewer back into a feminine aesthetic. I'd also second the recommendation to check out rock stars (mmm, Lenny Kravitz), though they're mostly not directly relevant to Rocky.

What type of preshow, or what specific ideas? I have a couple half-baked pitches that I need to put together (soon!), but nothing that I can point at and say, "We should have more like this!"

Most preshow ideas are so unique that it wasn't until I saw so many together this Halloween that I was able to connect the dots. If we have a preshow with several similar characters (like crazy bitch, doncha dancers, or playmate), why not have one of those be gender-swapped? If we need a sexy character, why not look for a male, and if we need a authoritative character (fuck, sweet dreams), why not female?

I have no intention of becoming a critic of other people's pitches, but I think people will agree that in a lot of cases, mixing things up will make the preshows even better.

I'll definitely look into accessories. I'll probably do fine just trying different combinations and seeing what works, but accessories aren't normally my thing, so if you have any links to pictures of things you think would look good, send them my way.
