Apr. 11th, 2007 02:16 amIf you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want -- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.
I have notes for posts on the Rocky community (I love every one of you, the community is thumping, the present now will later be past), and the China-and-India problem (they aren't the anti-answer, recognize our ability to divert disaster, the possibility of a golden age)... but I'll get those out when I can.

Date: 2007-04-11 09:37 pm (UTC)Oh. And the time at Manray when Douglas hit on you and you got all confused. That was precious. :P

Date: 2007-04-12 04:39 am (UTC)I remember the week everybody in your CoCurricular avoided clocks; I give you credit for the following summer when I ran with the idea, waking to sunrise, sleeping at sunset, and arriving conveniently whenever.
I remember you finally arriving at Falling Leaves after battling with public transportation all afternoon, haggard but good company. And cooking a weird pie out of parmesan and mushrooms, and you leading an uproar when I attempted to throw out the leftover cheese rind. And some of the times you came to dance on Wednesdays. The SCA in pittsburgh isn't the same, and there aren't enough world-changing philosophers in the robotics department at CMU. You are missed.

Date: 2007-04-14 07:15 pm (UTC)Close to the time when I first met you, the moment that is most impressed in my memory is of a late night in my room with another friend. I was mostly listening to the conversation, probably Rocky-related, when you made a very interesting pass at her due to something she had said at a Rocky after-party.
Second to that is the time you rehersed Trixie. Again, it was adorable ;).

Date: 2007-04-19 08:39 pm (UTC)i have some memories of you with the long hair and wearing that t-shirt with holes in it and jeans in the middle of winter walking to random... talking about some crazy philosophical thing i don't remember any more in the stairwell.. and playing d&d in the black hole lounge. guess this was a long time ago. it was nice to see you at Dave's new game. i'm still getting the hang of this lj thing, but i hope it helps with staying in touch.

Date: 2007-05-02 02:20 pm (UTC)I remember a long talk you and Gill had in his office about grading one afternoon that I sat in on with great interest. I wish you'd come back and shake up Olin again - we could use some Jimmy-fu around now, when we're revisiting the curriculum and the school's strategy.
Jimmy, drop me a line - you know my email, mel@students (it'll work for at least another month or two 'till they realize I'm graduating). I'll be in Cambridge this summer and would love to get together with you.
